What We Did

Using publicly available freelancer rates manually sourced from Fiverr, we built a list of common side hustles and retrieved freelancer rates, applying three key filters: 24-hour delivery/completion time, U.S.-based seller, and seller ranked among the top-rated on the platform.

• Freelancers charge an average of $100 for a single day’s work in the best-paying side hustle jobs — the six roles at this level include Marketing Strategy and AI Applications.

• The best pay for a side hustle that requires no experience involves doing Focus Group work ($27.22 per hour).

Marketing strategy and generative AI lessons among the six best-paying side hustles for a single day of work.

First, we analyzed the overall top 10 best-paying side hustles that can be completed within 24 hours.

Our 2025 report found that Marketing Strategy was the highest-paid side-hustle job, with freelancers charging $150 per day on average. This has changed slightly in 2026, with Marketing Strategy ranking as the highest-paid side-hustle alongside Business Planner, AI Applications and Generative AI Lessons. However, there was a considerable drop from the previous year in terms of payment: the average maximum fee is $100 per day, which is $50 less than in 2025.

Many freelancing platforms have a rising number of gig workers in relation to demand. These freelancers must negotiate changing algorithm dynamics to make the most of the opportunities available. According to Daniel Zhao, chief economist at Glassdoor, however, “[s]ide hustles are here to stay, especially for younger workers.”

The key to sustaining a lucrative side hustle, then, may be to leverage your own skills and expertise — and rely less on platforms. Instead, consider connecting with clients and customers directly, where you could significantly help to increase and stabilize your rates.

AI side hustles: Spokesperson videos, applications and generative AI lessons are the most lucrative.

“As an advocate for human talent, allow me to assure you that we come in peace,” wrote Micha Kaufman in an “open letter to AI” in January 2023. “You are a unique and powerful tool, capable of extraordinary feats. However, after reviewing some of your work, I believe it could benefit from a human touch to avoid coming across as too, ahem… robotic.”

The letter was printed in the New York Times, Don Draper-style. It was a marketing effort intended to capitalize on the new economic opportunities offered by artificial intelligence, putting a humorous spin on the controversial announcement that Fiverr’s marketplace would encourage AI-oriented assignments.

Alongside Generative AI Lessons and AI Applications, AI Spokesperson Videos are the most lucrative way to make quick cash using AI on Fiverr. The current average day rate that freelancers charge on Fiverr for these tasks is $100.

When it comes to AI Spokesperson Videos, several services allow users to create avatar-fronted announcements or how-to videos. However, this takes skill and work, particularly to create a video that does not look overly generic — especially important for companies building a brand.

Since these videos may be of great marketing value to those who commission them, recruiters pay reasonable rates for freelancers to make them on their behalf. Yet these services often require a subscription, so the employer must clarify who pays the fees before work commences.

Business side hustles: top rates for applications and business planning.

In the first four months of 2024 alone, American entrepreneurs filed 1.75 million new business applications, and there are now 33.2 million small businesses in the U.S. Naturally, not all of them can afford to maintain a full staff of administrative and accounting professionals. In fact, 82% of small businesses operate without any employees, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Writing applications and completing registrations for such companies is, therefore, a much-needed service. Freelancers charge an average of $100 per day for this task on Fiverr — one of the highest rates of any task in the business category.

Business Planning is an equally high-paying side hustle ($100). New business owners with such a plan can often expect their business to grow 30% faster than those without. To make your side hustle in Business Planning work takes a blend of soft and hard skills. Ideally, you need both strong communication and analytical skills to provide a quality service.

Digital marketing side hustles: search and display marketing among highest-paid.

Next, we analyzed the most lucrative digital marketing side hustles based on the median daily rate that freelancers charge. Marketing Strategy came out number one, offering an average of $100 per day.

An effective digital marketing strategist has experience, networks and specialist knowledge that a small business might not have internally. A company that reaches out to a marketing expert expects to make a profit on its investment in digital marketing, and you can factor this into the fee. While it may be desirable to study at college to become a highly paid marketing strategist, you can also attain competitive skill levels by learning at work or studying online at home.

The second-highest-paid ($80) digital marketing side hustle is Search and Display Marketing. Paid search advertising can help businesses reach potential customers who are actively looking for services or products similar to their own. Display marketing, on the other hand, places visual ads on websites and apps to boost brand awareness and attract customers before they’ve started searching.

Both are important marketing strategies. However, the former is more text-based, while the latter tends to rely on images. So, if you’re good at words and pictures, then this might be the side hustle for you.

Writing and editing side hustles: resume writer and career writing pay the most.

Even in the age of generative AI, writing and evaluating effective, natural-sounding copy to a high standard requires skill and practice.

But as our research shows, different types of writing gigs come with varying rates of pay. While you may find a low-paying role with relative ease, you will need to build an impressive portfolio and a network of connections to climb past the competition to more worthwhile assignments. The top-paying gigs in 2026 are Resume Writer and Career Writing ($95 per day).

Both of these side hustle gigs have surpassed 2025’s highest-paid jobs, such as website copy. Resume writing, in particular, has shown considerable growth. The market is expected to grow from $0.05 billion in 2026 to $0.08 billion by 2035, according to the Business Research Insights consultancy.

This value growth can be observed alongside the growing competitiveness of job markets. Solid writing experience, creativity and up-to-date, industry-standard knowledge are some of the skills and expertise that can appeal to potential clients looking for a top resume writer.

Design side hustles: website designer and landing page design at top of pay scale.

Even as the rise of AI makes work in the industry more precarious, hirers are figuring out that good design involves a range of factors that go beyond putting digital ink on the screen. In short, it still needs the human touch.

Good taste, an organic response to context, passion and an ingrained working knowledge of the history and principles of the form keep freelance designers head and shoulders above regular employees with access to AI tools.

Right now, the best-paying design side hustles are Website Designer and Landing Page Design — both earning an average of $80 per day. These are roles that require a blend of technical, creative and soft skills.

No experience, no problem — the side hustles that pay best for beginners.

Finally, we identified the side hustles that pay the most when you have little or no experience.

Some of the highest-paid among these are gigs where the buyer just needs a “regular person,” and lack of experience is actually an advantage. For example, the top-paying area is Focus Groups ($27.22 per hour). Sharing your thoughts and opinions about, for example, products and services can be an ideal way to boost your cash flow.

Other “no experience” jobs make use of the background and skills you may not have considered for their value. For example, online Tutoring ($22.86 per hour) requires little to no prior experience if you have the underlying knowledge.

And while previous work as a Virtual Assistant (second-best paying at $25.65) may help you find better-paid gigs in that role, the job is accessible to many. Capitalizing on basic skills, such as communication, organization and time management — skills that you’ve picked up at school or doing other, apparently unrelated jobs — means that you can effectively get started straight away.

Methodology

To determine the highest-paid side hustles for a single day of work, we built a list of common side hustles across the main categories on Fiverr. We retrieved freelancer rates from Fiverr with the following filters applied: 24-hour completion, U.S.-based seller, and seller ranked among the top-rated or levels one and two (i.e., no new sellers).

Then, we calculated the median job completion price rates for each side hustle, discarding any side hustles with fewer than 10 sellers that qualified.

In addition, we conducted manual research to determine the side hustles with no experience requirement that have the highest average hourly pay. We found authoritative sources for each of these side hustles, such as Care.com.
